Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR), through its Primary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD), organized PGSD FEST 2026 to commemorate the program’s 9th anniversary. Held from April 30 to May 2, 2026, the event served as both a reflection of the program’s journey and a means to strengthen solidarity among the PGSD academic community.
Carrying the theme “Express, Create, and Embrace Culture to Achieve a Progressive PGSD,” this year’s PGSD FEST reflected students’ enthusiasm in voicing ideas, fostering creativity, and upholding cultural values in every activity conducted.
A variety of events enlivened the festival, including a debate competition, a traditional dance competition, and a public lecture. Students actively participated in all activities, demonstrating high enthusiasm. The debate competition served as a platform to enhance critical thinking and argumentative skills, while the dance competition provided a space for artistic expression as well as cultural preservation. Meanwhile, the public lecture enriched students’ academic insights.
Through PGSD FEST 2026, students are expected to be further motivated to develop their full potential, both academically and non-academically. The event also strengthened solidarity and reinforced students’ identity as part of the PGSD community. Ultimately, PGSD FEST represents a concrete effort to cultivate future educators who are creative, culturally grounded, and ready to compete in the future. (Editor: Akb/KP)
