Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) once again demonstrated its commitment to delivering impactful academic activities. On Saturday (April 18, 2026), the Faculty of Psychology, Law, and Social Sciences (FPHIS) successfully held a public lecture titled “HRD as a Strategic Human: Perspectives from Psychology and Law” at the university seminar room.
The event was attended by approximately 100 fourth-semester students from the Psychology and Law Study Programs. It served as a valuable platform to bridge academic theory with real-world professional practice.
The lecture featured a distinguished practitioner, Subandi Lasmana, S.Psi., M.A., HRD of Hotel Artos Magelang, who shared in-depth insights into the evolving strategic role of Human Resource Development (HRD) in modern organizations. In his presentation, he emphasized that HRD’s role extends far beyond administrative tasks.
"HRD is not merely responsible for attendance and payroll, but acts as a strategic partner in organizational development, decision-making, and maintaining a balance between company interests and employee well-being," he explained.
The session highlighted the integration of psychological perspectives in understanding human behavior and potential, alongside labor law aspects that form the foundation of professional human resource management. This interdisciplinary approach provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of collaboration across fields in today’s workplace.
The Dean of FPHIS UMPWR, Itsna Iftayani, S.Pd.I., M.A., stated that the event reflects the faculty’s commitment to delivering industry-relevant education.
"This public lecture offers students a broader and more practical understanding of the professional world. The synergy between psychology and law is essential in shaping human resources who are not only competent but also ethical and adaptable to professional challenges," she remarked.
Through this initiative, UMPWR continues to strengthen its role in providing applied learning experiences, expanding students’ perspectives, and preparing graduates to thrive in an increasingly complex professional landscape.
