Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) reaffirmed its commitment to fostering academic excellence by organizing the 2026 National Mathematics Competition for senior high school students (SMA/MA and SMK/MAK). Initiated by the Mathematics Education Student Association, the competition attracted 113 participants from across Indonesia.
The competition was conducted fully online, utilizing digital platforms such as Zoom Meeting and the Sibiti website to ensure an efficient and well-structured process. The event began with the preliminary round on April 20, 2026, followed by the semifinal round on April 22, 2026, and culminated in the final round on April 25, 2026.
During the preliminary and semifinal rounds, participants completed problem sets via the Sibiti platform under live supervision through Zoom Meeting. In the final round, participants engaged in a live question-and-answer session via Zoom, requiring not only strong analytical skills but also effective mathematical communication.
This competition aims to enhance students’ competitive spirit in mathematics, nurture high-achieving young talents, promote UMPWR at the national level, and strengthen connections among high schools across Indonesia.

The Chairperson of the Committee, Rabinda Anisah Aoliatun, highlighted that the online format enabled broader participation.
"We aimed to create a competition that is both academically challenging and accessible to students from all regions. The use of platforms like Sibiti and Zoom has greatly supported the smooth implementation of this event," she stated.
Head of the Mathematics Education Study Program, Wharyanti Ika Purwaningsih, M.Pd., emphasized that the competition serves as a strategic platform for students to develop both competence and confidence.
"This competition not only tests academic ability but also trains students’ accuracy, critical thinking, and perseverance. We hope it will produce a generation that is ready to compete at both national and global levels," she remarked.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., who is also a lecturer in Mathematics Education, underlined the importance of innovation in education in the digital era.
"The use of digital platforms such as Sibiti demonstrates that learning and competition can be conducted effectively, adaptively, and with wider reach. This reflects UMPWR’s commitment to advancing digital-based education," he said.
Through this initiative, UMPWR continues to strengthen its role as an adaptive, innovative, and competitive higher education institution, while providing an inspiring platform for Indonesia’s young generation to excel in mathematics.
