Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) welcomed a delegation from Ufa University of Science and Technology (UUST), Russia, from April 2–11, 2026, as part of its efforts to strengthen global collaboration in higher education. This visit marked an important momentum in fostering academic relations between the two institutions across countries.

The Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the visit of the international partner who traveled a long distance to Purworejo. According to him, this visit is a strategic step in strengthening institutional relations while opening broader opportunities for academic collaboration.
“We warmly and happily welcome our partner university from Russia to Purworejo. We hope this visit can be followed up with academic collaborations that bring direct positive impacts to both institutions. At the same time, this momentum is also an opportunity to introduce Indonesian culture, particularly Javanese culture, as well as the uniqueness of Purworejo Regency,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the UUST representative, Assoc. Prof. Kamalov Rinat, PhD, expressed his enthusiasm and pride in visiting UMPWR as an international partner. He noted that this visit was the first experience for the UUST delegation in engaging in academic interaction in Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia.
“We are very pleased to visit our partner university in Indonesia. This is our first visit to the ASEAN region, and it is certainly a very valuable experience,” he said. He also added that this collaboration is expected to expand into various areas, such as academic exchange, research collaboration, and strengthening cross-cultural understanding between the two countries.
The Vice Rector IV for Cooperation and Al-Islam Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tusino, M.Pd., explained that this visit is part of UMPWR’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its international network. This collaboration is also expected to enhance the academic quality and global competitiveness of both institutions.
