Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) has once again achieved a proud accomplishment at the national level. Based on the latest 2026 ranking by uniRank, UMPWR has successfully maintained its position among the top 100 universities in Indonesia, ranking 93rd nationally.
This achievement further strengthens UMPWR’s position as the best higher education institution in the former Kedu Residency area. At the provincial level of Central Java, UMPWR has also demonstrated strong competitiveness by securing 7th place among the best private universities and 11th place among all universities.
Within the network of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA), UMPWR has also shown outstanding performance. Nationally, UMPWR ranks 9th among PTMA institutions, while in Central Java it holds 2nd place, just below Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta.
The uniRank ranking itself evaluates 611 higher education institutions in Indonesia that meet strict selection criteria, including being officially recognized or accredited, offering undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs, and primarily delivering education through conventional (face-to-face) learning systems.

The Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., expressed his gratitude and appreciation for this achievement.
“Alhamdulillah, this achievement is the result of the hard work of the entire UMPWR academic community, who remain committed to improving the quality of education, research, and community service. This ranking serves as motivation for us to continue innovating and maintaining public trust,” he stated.
He further emphasized that UMPWR will continue to strengthen institutional governance, enhance the quality of human resources, and expand strategic partnerships to face future challenges in higher education.
