Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) once again brought a meaningful Ramadan atmosphere through a Tarawih sermon held at the Campus Mosque. On Thursday evening, March 12, 2026, corresponding to the 24th night of Ramadan 1447 H, the sermon was delivered by the Regional Secretary of Purworejo Regency, Suranto, S.T., S.Sos., MPA, who is also an alumnus of the Civil Engineering Study Program of UMPWR.

In his sermon, Suranto emphasized the importance of strengthening faith in social, national, and civic life. He also invited the congregation to support the leadership of Purworejo Regent Yuli Hastuti and Vice Regent Dion Agasi Setiabudi in realizing a Purworejo Regency that is religious and enriched with strong spiritual values.

According to him, strengthening religious values is particularly important for the younger generation, especially students who are currently pursuing their education. He stressed that the process of seeking knowledge should not only focus on intellectual development but must also be accompanied by strong faith and moral character.

“We need to emphasize to our younger generation, especially in living their lives as members of society and citizens of the nation, that pursuing knowledge must always be connected with values of faith. After all, youth are the true successors of the nation’s struggle,” Suranto said before the congregation.

He added that young people have a strategic role in determining the future of the nation. Therefore, the younger generation is expected to actively contribute to development and bring positive changes to society.

“We must take part in advancing the future of our nation. We also have the responsibility to uphold and defend our religion in good ways, through knowledge, good character, and real contributions to society,” he continued.

Suranto also emphasized that the spirit possessed by young people is a powerful force to grow and advance a nation. With strong enthusiasm, knowledge, and faith, the younger generation is expected to become a driving force for the nation’s progress in the future.

The Tarawih sermon at the UMPWR Campus Mosque is part of the university’s Ramadan program series, which regularly features inspiring figures from various backgrounds. Through this activity, it is hoped that the UMPWR academic community can enrich their Islamic insights while strengthening their spiritual values during the holy month of Ramadan.
