Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) held the 2026 Soft Skills Inauguration on Monday, February 10, 2026, at the Kasman Singodimedjo Auditorium, UMPWR. This event served as the culmination of a series of Soft Skills 2026 training activities participated in by first-, third-, and fifth-semester students from various study programs at UMPWR, aimed at strengthening students' character, leadership, and non-academic competencies.

During the inauguration, UMPWR also announced the winners of various categories of assignments and competitions in Soft Skills 2026 as a form of appreciation for the creativity, teamwork, and discipline of the students.

The Head of the Soft Skills Training Committee, Eko Haryanto, said that 1,963 UMPWR students had previously been deployed to 100 villages in Purworejo Regency. During the deployment, students conducted field observations and identified problems faced by village communities. From these visits, 288 proposals were collected from third- and fifth-semester students.

“From these proposals, the top 36 were selected, then the top 6, and finally the category winners,” he explained.

The Twibbon Category winners were Haffidz Arha Damarulloh (Level 1, PBSJ), Rifa Dwi Saharani (Level 2, PGSD), and Ilyas Falah Muhana (Level 3, Civil Engineering). Meanwhile, the Most Effortful Instagram Stories Level 1 was won by Puji Rahayu (Psychology).

The categories of Best Life River were won by Friska Auliana (PGSD Group 19), Best Goal Setting by Rini Revalina Safitri (Management Group 26), and Best Level 1 Cheers by Group 8. For the vlog category, the Most Exciting Vlog Level 2 award was won by Group 20B, and the Most Informative Vlog Level 3 award was won by Group 27C.

Appreciation was also given to the Most Disciplined Student Facilitators, Bayu Abadi and Tanti Trinawati, as well as the Most Disciplined Lecturer Facilitators, Dyah Panuntun Utami, S.P., M.Sc. and Dwi Jatmoko, M.Pd.

Vice Rector 3 for Student Affairs, Dr. Budi Setiawan, S.Sos., M.Si., was also present to deliver a speech and close the UMPWR 2026 Soft Skills event.

In his speech, Budi Setiawan expressed his deep appreciation for the collaboration and commitment of the participants during the training. According to him, even though the event has ended, it does not mean that we are closing the agenda for further soft skill development.

“Soft skill training is a catalyst for you to develop your soft skills in the future,” he said.

Budi also emphasized the importance of character building and manners in this era of disruption and technological development.

“The world no longer asks about your intelligence but your character. Because intelligence has been replaced by AI. So it is important to build character and manners, have integrity, discipline, responsibility, and social empathy, as well as develop communication skills, cooperation, and critical thinking,” he said.

To entertain the participants, the event ended with a lively musical performance by a band whose singer is also an alumnus of UMPWR.
