Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – The face of Wonoboyo Village, Ngombol Sub-district, Purworejo Regency, is set to become greener and more beautiful in the coming years. This is thanks to the concrete action of UMPWR Community Service Program (KKN) students who carried out a large-scale village greening program on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

In this activity, a total of 350 productive and shade tree seedlings were planted simultaneously along the shoulders of the village’s main road.

The KKN Coordinator of Wonoboyo Village stated that this program is one of the largest physical work programs undertaken by the group. The high-quality seedlings were not obtained easily, but through efforts to submit a proposal for assistance to the Central Java Provincial Office of Environment and Forestry (DLHK).

“Alhamdulillah, from the proposal of 800 seedlings that we submitted, 350 seedlings were approved by the Central Java DLHK. The details include 150 Tabebuya trees, known for their beautiful flowers resembling cherry blossoms, 150 Pucuk Merah seedlings for aesthetic purposes, and 50 White Waru seedlings as shade trees,” explained a student representative.

The tree-planting activity was carried out in a lively atmosphere with a strong spirit of mutual cooperation. In addition to the students, the event was fully supported by the entire Wonoboyo Village Government, members of the Youth Organization (Karang Taruna), and was directly accompanied by the local Village Supervisory Non-Commissioned Officer (Babinsa).

The Head of Wonoboyo Village enthusiastically welcomed the activity. He described the KKN students’ initiative as a “perfect match,” as it aligns closely with the village government’s vision and ongoing greening programs.

“We are greatly helped. The students’ program is in line with the village’s plans. The planting of Tabebuya and Pucuk Merah will not only make the air cooler but also beautify the village landscape to make it more pleasing to the eye,” said the Village Head during the activity.

Through collaboration among students, the village government, security personnel, and youth organizations, it is hoped that the hundreds of seedlings that have been planted will be jointly cared for so they can grow well and become a living legacy that benefits future generations of Wonoboyo Village residents.
