Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – Students participating in the Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) in Triwarno Village, Banyuurip District, Purworejo Regency, organized a hantaran-making training for PKK women on Saturday, February 7, 2026. The activity was attended by approximately 40 participants, consisting of PKK women and UMPWR KKN students.
The training was supervised by the Field Supervisor, Arta Kusumaningrum, S.P., M.Sc., and aimed to empower PKK women by equipping them with practical skills in making hantaran. These skills are expected to be useful for various village ceremonial events, such as weddings and other traditional occasions.
Through this training, participants received both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice in arranging attractive and aesthetically valuable hantaran. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the beginning of the activity through the practical session, during which PKK women actively took part in every stage of the hantaran-making process.
The Head of KKN Triwarno Village 1, Ilham Tegar Prastyo, stated that the training not only provides skills but also opens up new business opportunities for the community. “Hantaran-making training has considerable economic potential. These skills can be utilized as an additional source of income, especially for housewives and young people, considering the increasing demand for hantaran in various events,” he said.
Overall, the hantaran-making training was regarded as a positive and beneficial activity that aligns with the needs of the Triwarno Village community. UMPWR KKN students hope that similar activities can continue to be implemented and further developed so that their benefits can be felt more widely and contribute to strengthening the economic independence of rural communities.
