Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) held an international Guest Lecturer program in collaboration with Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (NSPU), Russia, on Monday afternoon, February 2, 2026, at the Kasman Singodimedjo Auditorium, UMPWR.

The event was attended by UMPWR students along with six students from NSPU, and formed an integral part of NSPU’s academic visit to UMPWR. Beyond the guest lectures, the program was designed as an interactive forum featuring academic sharing and cultural exchange between students from both institutions.

The Guest Lecturer session featured two speakers from UMPWR and NSPU. The first speaker, Abdul Ngafif, M.Pd., B.I., a lecturer at UMPWR, delivered a presentation entitled “Being a Professional Teacher in Indonesia: Challenges, Regulations, and the Role of the Professional Teacher Education Program (PPG).” His presentation highlighted the challenges faced by novice teachers, the regulatory framework of the teaching profession in Indonesia, and the strategic role of the Professional Teacher Education Program (PPG) in preparing competent and globally competitive educators.

The second speaker, Dr. Govorushenko Alena from NSPU, presented a lecture titled “Educational Smart Technologies: Online English Language Teaching Tools.” In her session, Dr. Alena introduced the Atlas of SMART Technologies, showcasing the integration of digital tools and artificial intelligence in English language teaching, including the development of visual learning media, digital lesson planning, AI-based educational videos, and online collaborative learning platforms.

Adding to the significance of the event, the program also featured a student experience-sharing session. NSPU students shared insights into academic life and learning practices in Russia, while UMPWR students presented elements of Indonesian culture, fostering cross-cultural understanding and strengthening international academic ties.

Through this activity, UMPWR reaffirmed its commitment to creating an international academic atmosphere, enhancing global collaboration, and equipping students with pedagogical insights, educational technology skills, and global competencies relevant to the challenges of 21st-century education.
