Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) held the Orientation for the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) for Prospective Teachers, Cohort 1 of 2026, on Thursday, January 29, 2026. The activity was attended by 44 prospective teachers and marked the initial stage in preparing participants to enter the teacher professional education process in a comprehensive manner.

The orientation aimed to provide a thorough understanding of the learning system, academic culture, as well as to strengthen the character and professionalism of prospective teachers. It also served as an initial platform for building participants’ commitment to fully engage in all stages of the PPG program at UMPWR.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of PPG UMPWR, Dr. Yuli Widiyono, M.Pd., stated that the orientation is a crucial foundation for the successful implementation of the PPG program.

“This orientation serves as an initial step to ensure that prospective teachers fully understand the structure, system, and demands of the PPG learning process. We hope that all participants will take part in the program with full responsibility, discipline, and enthusiasm to become professional teachers,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector IV of UMPWR, Dr. Tusino, M.Pd.B.I., emphasized the importance of integrity and character in the teaching profession.

“Teachers are not only required to excel academically, but must also possess strong character, ethics, and Islamic values. The PPG program at UMPWR is designed to shape professional teachers who are knowledgeable, ethical, and progressive,” he explained.

During the orientation, participants received several key materials, including Introduction to the Academic Environment of the Campus delivered by Vice Rector I Dr. Dwi Irawati, S.E., M.Si.; a Public Lecture titled “Contemplation: Teachers of the Future”, reflecting on the roles and challenges of teachers in an era of change; Introduction to the UMPWR Library, including services and learning resources supporting the PPG program; Structure and Learning System of the PPG for Prospective Teachers, explaining the stages, mechanisms, and evaluation of the program; Strengthening of Matriculation as an initial provision for academic readiness; UMPWR Academic Information System (SIA) to support academic administration and services for PPG students; and Technical Guidance on the PPG Learning Management System (LMS) as the primary platform for online learning throughout the program.

Through this orientation, UMPWR reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the improvement of national education quality by preparing professional, character-driven prospective teachers who are ready to face future challenges in the field of education.
