Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR), through the Physics Education Student Association (HIMA Pendidikan Fisika), organized the 2026 Educational Visit on Monday, 19 January 2026, at SMA Negeri 6 Purworejo. The activity was attended by students of Class XII D of SMA Negeri 6 Purworejo.
This educational visit was part of an effort to provide insights, motivation, and inspiration for high school students regarding the learning of physics as well as an overview of university life, particularly in the fields of science and physics education.
The 2026 Educational Visit carried the theme “Physics Innovation through Science Education: Interesting Physics Inspiration for High School.” This theme was chosen because physics is often perceived as a difficult, abstract, and less engaging subject by many high school students. Such perceptions can reduce students’ self-confidence and motivation, and even lead them to move away from science fields when pursuing higher education.
Through this theme, the educational visit aimed to demonstrate that physics is actually very closely related to everyday life and plays an important role in various technological innovations. During the activity, HIMA Pendidikan Fisika provided a detailed introduction to the Physics Education Study Program, including its vision and mission, graduate profiles and competencies, academic and non-academic activities, curriculum, as well as opportunities for personal development and career prospects for graduates.
Through this activity, it is expected to serve as a platform to enhance students’ knowledge, motivation, and interest in higher education. In addition, the program is expected to foster students’ interest in continuing their studies to the higher education level, particularly in the Physics Education Study Program.
