Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) officially opened the series of Student Scientific Week and Expo UMPWR 2025 under the theme “Digital-Creativepreneur” on Monday (29 December 2025) at the Kasman Singodimedjo Auditorium. The event serves as a strategic platform to strengthen academic culture, creativity, and digital-based student entrepreneurship.
The Head of the Bureau of Student Affairs, Promotion, and New Student Admissions (PMB) of UMPWR, Dr. Hermawan, M.Pd.I., stated that Expo UMPWR 2025 was participated in by student organizations (Ormawa) and UMPWR alumni, featuring dozens of booths showcasing various creative products.
“This year’s Expo features a total of 46 student creativity booths, 12 of which are learning media booths. In addition, there are 8 booths managed by UMPWR alumni, reflecting collaboration and continuity between students and alumni,” explained Dr. Hermawan.
He added that the Digital-Creativepreneur theme was chosen to build an academic and entrepreneurial ecosystem aligned with UMPWR’s vision.
“Through this theme, we strive to create an academic ecosystem while fostering a culture of scholarship and student entrepreneurship. This activity also serves as a feasibility test and readiness assessment for UMPWR in welcoming several student-related agendas and events to be held in 2026,” he added.

The event was officially opened by the Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd. In his remarks, the Rector emphasized that the Student Scientific Week and Expo is a highly beneficial agenda for students.
“This activity trains students to think scientifically, creatively, and innovatively, and serves as a bridge toward the Student Creativity Program (PKM). In addition, students gain soft skills development, a platform to actualize their ideas, and the confidence to promote their products,” said Dr. Teguh Wibowo.
Furthermore, the Rector highlighted that the event plays an important role in building networks, enhancing career opportunities, and strengthening students’ entrepreneurial spirit from their time at university.
“Through activities like this, students can cultivate an entrepreneurial track record while still in college. Ultimately, this not only benefits students but also contributes to enhancing the institution’s reputation. Therefore, we hope this agenda can continue to be held regularly,” he added.
The Student Scientific Week and Expo UMPWR 2025 takes place from 28–30 December 2025, featuring the English Debating Competition, Student Debate Competition, digital business talk shows, AI technology workshops, multimedia and press release writing training, as well as an expo of creative products by students and alumni.
Through this event, UMPWR reaffirms its commitment to creating an innovative, productive, and impactful campus ecosystem, while preparing students to become a superior, competitive, and entrepreneurial generation in the digital era. (akb/KP)
