Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) has once again recorded an important achievement in the development of academic human resources. Two UMPWR lecturers, Dr. Indah Kusuma Dewi, S.H., M.H., officially received a Decree on Academic Rank Promotion to Associate Professor (Lektor Kepala) in the field of expertise in Law, while Prof. Dr. Sudar, M.Pd. received a Decree on Academic Rank Promotion to Professor (Guru Besar) in the field of Applied Linguistics, the highest academic rank for lecturers.
The promotions are stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 43804/M/KPT.KP/2025 concerning the Promotion of Academic/Functional Ranks of Lecturers, dated 4 November 2025. The Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., accompanied the two lecturers during the official handover of the Decrees at the Office of LLDIKTI Region VI, Central Java, on Wednesday (17 December 2025).
The Rector of UMPWR emphasized that academic rank promotion is an important indicator of lecturer quality and institutional success in building a productive and sustainable academic ecosystem.
“Academic rank promotion is evidence of consistency in carrying out the tridharma of higher education. This achievement marks an important milestone in strengthening UMPWR’s academic quality while enhancing the institution’s reputation,” the Rector stated.
Dr. Indah Kusuma Dewi expressed that achieving the rank of Associate Professor serves as motivation to further enhance academic contributions and professional performance.
“I view this promotion to Associate Professor as a responsibility to be more actively engaged in research, scientific publications, and the development of learning,” said Dr. Indah.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Sudar noted that attaining the rank of Professor is an academic mandate that requires a broader role in knowledge development and lecturer mentoring.
“The rank of Professor is the pinnacle of an academic career and must be accompanied by scholarly contributions that have a tangible impact on society and the world of education,” Prof. Sudar remarked.
Through these academic rank promotions, UMPWR continues to demonstrate its commitment to accelerating lecturer career advancement, improving the quality of the tridharma of higher education, and strengthening a culture of academic excellence and competitiveness.
