PURWOREJO – Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) held an event titled “Kick Off for New Student Admissions (PMB) 2026-2027 and Launching of Surya Mart UMPWR” on Thursday, November 20, 2025. The event, which took place at the Kasman Singodimejo Auditorium, was attended by all lecturers and educational staff (tendik), contract and internship staff of UMPWR, as well as the heads of Muhammadiyah elementary, junior high, high school, and vocational schools throughout Purworejo Regency. The event also invited a guest speaker from the Muhammadiyah Research and Development Council, Prof. Dr. H. Sutrisno, M.Ag.
The event began with the presentation of the annual PMB report for the 2025/2026 Academic Year by the Head of the Student Affairs and PMB Bureau (BIMAWA) of UMPWR, Dr. Hermawan, M.Pd.I. On that occasion, he said that this year's new students were mostly high school graduates, followed by vocational school graduates, and Islamic high school graduates, including those from Islamic boarding schools, which were still mostly from the Kedu region, plus six foreign students from Timor Leste.
He further emphasized the importance of synergy between study programs/faculties and BIMAWA and all campus components in managing websites and social media to standardize perceptions, promotion, and branding for the 2026/2027 Academic Year PMB.
He urged the entire academic community to jointly promote UMPWR by using the hashtag #UMPWRaja in every post related to campus activities on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp.
The Rector of UMPWR, Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., in his speech regarding the 2026/2027 academic year enrollment, stated that this year enrollment through the KIP scholarship program will be limited by eliminating KIP scholarships for four study programs, namely Management, PGSD, Civil Engineering, and Information Technology.
In addition, his party also plans to improve the Radio Surya FM business unit and expand the business by developing Surya Boga.
Regarding the inauguration of Surya Mart UMPWR, the Rector explained that the presence of this minimarket is part of the university's commitment to improving services and comfort for the entire academic community.
“Surya Mart is not only a place to shop, but also part of the solution for students, lecturers, and staff. With affordable prices and a strategic location on campus, we are creating a comfortable and independent campus,” he added.
After the speech, the event continued with a sharing session on the implementation guidelines of AIK for leaders, lecturers, and PTMA staff by Prof. Dr. H. Sutrisno, M.Ag.
Prof. Dr. H. Sutrisno, M.Ag. said that PTMA has an advantage, namely the four pillars of higher education, namely Al Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK). So, in relation to PMB, AIK can strengthen study programs to become superior, then the university will become superior.
“The strategy for the time being is to increase the number of new students for existing programs. The priority is on outstanding programs first, then outstanding campuses, and finally opening marketable programs,” he explained.
After the discussion, the event continued with a symbolic button pressing to mark the start of the 2026-2027 PMB Kick Off and the symbolic presentation of vouchers to representatives of lecturers, teaching staff, and school principals who attended the event. The vouchers can be exchanged for purchases at Surya Mart UMPWR.
All participants were then invited to witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony and shop at Surya Mart, located not far from the auditorium.
By holding this event, UMPWR demonstrated its readiness and determination to continue to develop, innovate, and provide the best for the community, both through quality education and excellent service.
