Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – Efforts to reduce stunting rates and improve community welfare continue to be carried out collaboratively by various stakeholders. One tangible manifestation of this collaboration is the implementation of community service activities through the 2025 Kosabangsa Program, organized by the Directorate of Research and Community Service, under the Directorate General of Research and Development (DPPM), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek).
This year’s program carries the main theme:
“Enhancing Superior Local Food Products and Preventing Stunting Through the Application of IoT-Based Drying and Smart Cage Technologies for Communities Living in Extreme Poverty.”
The program is led by Dr. Bdn. Tri Sunarsih, SST., M.Kes., as the Principal Investigator, alongside the UNJAYA team: Kharisma, S.T., M.Cs., and Ari Okta Viyani, S.E., M.Sc..
UNJAYA collaborates with UMPWR as the Mentoring Team, consisting of Prof. Dr. Suyitno, M.Pd. (Chief Mentor), Dr. Murry Hermawan Saputra, S.E., M.Sc., and Dr. Jeki Wibawanti, S.Pt., M.Eng., M.Si.

The activities are centered in Srikayangan Village, Sentolo Subdistrict, Kulon Progo Regency, targeting primarily the Women Farmers Group (KWT) Putri Manunggal and the Posyandu Cadre Group.
The series of Kosabangsa program activities include:
1. Initial Socialization and Empowerment Workshops
2. Training on IoT-Based Drying Technology and Integrated Nutrition Gardens
3. Processing of Rice Snail Waste and Organic Compost Production
4. Development of Local Food Products and Entrepreneurship
5. Stunting Prevention Programs Through Health Education and Technology Implementation
Prof. Dr. Suyitno, M.Pd., as Chief Mentor, expressed his hope that the applied technologies would be beneficial and serve as a bridge for community progress.
Dr. Murry Hermawan Saputra, S.E., M.Sc., added that the Kosabangsa mentoring activities aim to make a concrete contribution in terms of technology, supporting equipment, and knowledge transfer. He also hoped these efforts would help elevate the capacity and business level of the partner groups.
Furthermore, Dr. Jeki Wibawanti, M.Eng., M.Si., emphasized that the Kosabangsa program conducted by UNJAYA and UMPWR supports the government’s Asta Cita agenda, which brings real impact to communities, and should therefore continue sustainably even after the official program concludes.
The 2025 Kosabangsa Program in Srikayangan Village demonstrates that integrating appropriate technology, nutritional education, and economic empowerment can create sustainable solutions for improving the welfare of communities living in extreme poverty.
Through the implementation of solar dryers, IoT-based integrated nutrition gardens, local food processing, and stunting prevention education, the program has produced measurable improvements in community knowledge and skills.
The collaboration among universities, local government, and the community serves as strong evidence that research- and technology-based community service can effectively support national goals to reduce stunting rates and strengthen local food security.
It is hoped that this program will not only improve food quality and public health but also foster economic independence among residents in extremely poor areas — particularly in Srikayangan Village, Sentolo, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta.
Dr. Bdn. Tri Sunarsih, SST., M.Kes., the Principal Investigator, stated that the successful funding of this project reflects UNJAYA’s strong commitment to community service.
“We hope that through this program, the technologies we have developed can be directly implemented within the community, bringing real impact in improving nutrition, preventing stunting, and strengthening family economies,” she said.
The 2025 Kosabangsa Program stands as a testament to the synergy between universities, government, and the community in realizing Indonesia Emas 2045, through improving human resource quality and alleviating poverty.
This program is funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology through the Directorate of Research and Community Service, Directorate General of Research and Development (DPPM), as part of the 2025 Kosabangsa Program framework.
