Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) - The Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics, held a Guest Lecture with the theme “Management Fundamentals for the 5.0 Era” on Friday, October 24, 2025. Held in the Seminar Room on the 3rd Floor of Campus III UM Purworejo, the event featured Crisanto S. Ramirez, MBA from Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) Philippines and was attended by first-semester undergraduate students from the Management Program, Faculty of Economics.

In his opening remarks, the Head of the Management Program, Dr. Hardin., SP., M.M., emphasized that this event is expected to foster global perspectives, social awareness, and reflective and adaptive skills in response to global management changes in the 5.0 era among students. It is hoped that after this event, students will become inspiring and character-driven future leaders with outstanding managerial competencies.

This is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, which emphasizes competitive economic growth, and Goal 9, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, which emphasizes sustainable development. Thus, this activity not only contributes to improving the quality of education at the national level, but also supports the achievement of the global sustainable development agenda.

Crisanto S. Ramirez, MBA from Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) Philippines, as the keynote speaker, emphasized the importance of the relationship between product development and fundamental management in the 5.0 era, namely the synergy between advanced technology and human elements, which is the main focus.

“If fundamental management is the basic principle of organizational management, then the 5.0 era enriches this principle with new values that greatly influence the product development process,” explained Crisanto S. Ramirez.

He further stated that product development in the 5.0 era requires a profound renewal of fundamental management. Classic management principles of efficiency must be expanded to include the values of humanism, sustainability, and personalization.

“Collaboration between humans and technology, supported by adaptive management, is the key to creating products that are not only innovative, but also relevant and socially responsible in the 5.0 era,” he said.

The material is related to SDGs 8 and SDGs 9. The product development process in the 5.0 era is carried out based on three main keys, namely: meeting market needs, product innovation, and attractive product design.

The event ran smoothly and optimally, moderated by Ishak, S.E., M.Sc., who is a lecturer in the Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics, UMPWR. Through this activity, students gained a deeper understanding of the concept of Fundamental Management for the 5.0 era as an innovative approach to preparing themselves to become competent, creative, innovative, and globally competitive managers, leaders, and entrepreneurs.
