Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) – Wednesday (8/10) was a historic moment for the Faculty of Psychology, Law and Social Sciences (FPHIS). A total of 57 students were officially conferred their degrees and declared ready to receive their bachelor's degrees, as well as participate in the graduation ceremony for the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year on 25 October 2025.

Comprising 13 students from the Law Study Programme and 44 students from the Psychology Study Programme, this year's graduation ceremony marked the end of their long journey in higher education. Among them, 15 students successfully graduated without a thesis, through an alternative academic assignment pathway recognised by the faculty. This achievement demonstrates their perseverance and exceptional academic quality.

Moreover, a series of outstanding achievements further enriched this meaningful event. The title of Best Student of FPHIS was awarded to Riyo Setiawan (Law Study Programme) with a GPA of 3.87, and Syafina Rachmadika Aditria (Psychology Study Programme) with a GPA of 3.83. These two students symbolise the spirit of excellence and perseverance that is worthy of emulation.

In addition, three FPHIS students achieved national recognition, namely Dian Ratri Utami and Muhammad Iqbal Maulana, who secured national funding for the P2MW Programme, and Denita Permata Sari, who received funding for the Wirausaha Merdeka Programme.

As an inclusive campus, there was also an emotional moment when two students with disabilities, Amat Mulyadi and Lilik Syafruddin, were named as on-time graduates. Both of them are a clear symbol that limitations are not a barrier to achievement.

Of the 57 students who graduated, 46 of them achieved cum laude honours. This figure is proof that dedication, perseverance, and a high spirit of learning remain strong characteristics of FPHIS students.

The event was also attended by lecturers from the Law and Psychology Study Program, along with their respective heads of study programmes and the Dean of FPHIS. In his speech, the faculty leader expressed his pride in the achievements of the students, who are now ready to become agents of change in society.

This graduation ceremony featured an inspirational speech by Dr Sapardiyono, S.Hut., M.H. The lecturer from the Law Study Programme gave a speech on the theme of ‘Soft Skills and Economic Diversification to Survive in a Dynamic Era’. He emphasised that amid global economic uncertainty, adaptability and creativity are key to continuing to “survive” in post-university life.

“Life is not just about who is the smartest, but who is the most prepared to face change,” he said.

With gratitude and pride, FPHIS UMPWR bid farewell to its best graduates as they stepped into a wider world, spreading benefits, carrying scientific values, and bringing honour to their beloved alma mater.
