Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) once again held its monthly regular study session, which serves as a spiritual strengthening agenda for the academic community, on Friday, October 3, 2025. Held in the East Campus Seminar Room, UMPWR featured Ust. Fida Afif, S.Hum, who currently serves as Deputy Secretary II of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership's Tabligh Council.
In his lecture, Ust. Fida Afif emphasized the importance of tauhid (monotheism) as the main foundation for Muslims. According to him, the greatest test for Muslims in the modern era is maintaining the purity of tauhid amid globalization and the challenges of the times. In addition, shirk (polytheism) is also the heaviest test of a person's tauhid.
Furthermore, he emphasized the meaning of the verse “Inna sholati wa nusuki wa mahyaya wa mamati lillahi rabbil 'alamin”, that every aspect of a Muslim's life, from worship, sacrifice, life, to death, must be directed only to Allah SWT. With this understanding, the UMPWR academic community is expected to be able to bring Islamic values into every activity, both on campus and in the community.
“The sign that someone has pure monotheism is when they ask and pray to Allah, and Allah grants their request before they even ask,” he explained.
In closing, Ustadz Fida Afif emphasized that the essence of progressive Islam is being able to provide alternative solutions to various problems that occur in the surrounding environment.
This monthly study session was attended by lecturers, educational staff, students, and the surrounding community. This activity is part of UMPWR's commitment to building a religious and progressive academic atmosphere, so that the campus is not only a center of knowledge, but also a center for strengthening faith, charity, and progressive Islamic preaching.
