Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) successfully held the Grand Final of the Anti-Bullying Ambassador Competition for Senior High Schools/Vocational Schools/Islamic Senior High Schools in the Kedu region as part of UMPWR's 61st anniversary celebrations. The event, held on Monday, 29 September 2025, in the East Campus Seminar Room, was one of the campus's efforts to raise awareness among the younger generation about creating a healthy, safe, and bullying-free school environment.
Previously, 43 participants from various schools in the Kedu region had submitted their works and ideas online. After going through a selection process, 10 finalists were chosen and invited to attend the event at the UMPWR campus to give presentations in front of a panel of judges.
Dr. Sapardiyono, M.H., as the head of the Milad Committee, said that this competition was aimed at fostering a campus and school ecosystem that is free from violence and anti-bullying. Dr. Sapardiyono also expressed his gratitude to the teachers and judges who had guided the students to become anti-bullying ambassadors in schools and communities.
Vice Rector II Dr. Muhamad Taufik, M.T., said that the 61st anniversary of UMPWR was not just a celebration of its age, but also a chance to measure what UMPWR has achieved and what it will achieve in the future. "One of UMPWR's concerns is the anti-bullying ambassador competition. UMPWR cares about the younger generation with the hope that they will become a generation that cares about their surroundings, including in terms of anti-bullying," he said.
In the final round, the finalists presented their programmes, ideas, and creative campaigns in an effort to prevent bullying in schools. In addition, the finalists had previously made creative videos about anti-bullying in schools. Their performances were assessed based on communication skills, understanding of the issue, and commitment; while the creative videos were assessed based on message, creativity, impact, originality, and cinematography. These creative videos were also assessed by 7,583 members of the general public through online voting.
From the judging process, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, as well as the Favourite Winner, were finally decided. The winners were entitled to receive award certificates, trophies, and attractive prizes from the UMPWR Milad committee. The winners were:
1. 1st place Nafatya Dian Marta (SMA N 9 Purworejo);
2. Second Place: Dastin Riski Adi Kurniawan (SMA N 5 Purworejo);
3. Third Place: Arif Iman Wicaksono (SMA N 3 Purworejo);

In addition to the Anti-Bullying Ambassador Competition for senior high schools/vocational schools/Islamic senior high schools in Kedu, UMPWR also launched the Centre for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (Satgas PPKPT). With the theme ‘Realising a Safe, Inclusive, and Violence-Free Campus’, this activity is a concrete step by UMPWR in creating a healthy, comfortable, and violence-free academic environment.
PPKPT is mandated by the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 55 of 2024 concerning PPKPT. The UMPWR PPKPT Task Force was formed based on Rector's Decree Number 039/KEP/II.3.AU/A/2025 concerning the 2025-2027 UMPWR PPKPT Task Force, which consists of 7 members comprising lecturers, educational staff, and students.
The launch of PPKPT was attended by Wanodya Kusumastuti, M.Psi., a member of PPKPT, who spoke about the definition and types of violence in higher education institutions, and the Head of the PPKPT Task Force, Nurmansyah Alami, M.T., who spoke about the procedures for reporting violence if it occurs at UMPWR.
‘If members of the UMPWR academic community experience verbal or physical violence, they can report it through the website https://ppkpt.umpwr.ac.id/. We maintain the confidentiality of victims and prioritise their protection,’ he explained.
UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., emphasised that the establishment of this Task Force is part of the university's efforts to ensure that every student, lecturer, and educational staff member feels safe, protected, and able to carry out their activities comfortably.
‘The hope is that the launch of this Task Force is not merely ceremonial but truly becomes an effective tool for preventing and addressing violence, so that our campus can continue to be an inclusive and conducive environment for learning,’ he stated.
Through this Task Force, UMPWR is committed to providing a safe space for all academic staff and students while also serving as a platform for preventing and addressing cases of violence within the higher education institution. (akb/KP).
