Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) - To celebrate its 61st anniversary, a tumpeng decoration competition was held on Friday, 19 September 2025. The event, held at the Kasman Singodimedjo Auditorium, was attended by representatives from various study programmes, institutions, and work units within UMPWR.
The tumpeng decoration competition was one of a series of anniversary celebrations that not only fostered a sense of togetherness but also revived cultural values and local wisdom. Each team presented their tumpeng creations with various decorations and philosophical meanings that depicted the spirit of unity, creativity, and gratitude for UMPWR's journey as it entered its 61st year.
The Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., said that this activity was not just a competition, but also a form of togetherness for the entire academic community. ‘Tumpeng is a symbol of gratitude, hope, and prayer. Through this competition, we want to strengthen the spirit of togetherness in developing UMPWR so that it can be more advanced and have an impact and benefit for the nation,’ he said.
The enthusiasm of the participants was evident in their teamwork and creativity. Not only the beauty, but also the meaning behind each tumpeng decoration was one of the aspects assessed by the judges. As a result, the Management Study Programme Team won first place, followed by the General Administration Bureau team in second place, and the Student Affairs, Promotion and PMB Bureau team in third place.
With the successful hosting of this tumpeng decoration competition, it is hoped that the spirit of the 61st anniversary will further strengthen the unity of the entire UMPWR family as they strive towards becoming an excellent, competitive, impactful, and sustainable campus dedicated to advancing the civilisation of knowledge.
