Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) – The Faculty of Social Sciences (FIS) has officially changed its name to the Faculty of Psychology, Law, and Social Sciences (FPHIS). The new nomenclature was officially introduced during the Re-Branding and Socialisation of the Organisational Structure and Governance (SOTK) event for new FPHIS students for the 2025/2026 academic year. The event was held at the Kasman Singodimedjo Auditorium, UMPWR, and was part of the ongoing PPKKMB series aimed at introducing the faculty and its student organisations to new students.
During the event, the nomenclature change of the faculty name from the Faculty of Social Sciences (FIS) to the Faculty of Psychology, Law and Social Sciences (FPHIS) was announced. This change marks a new milestone for the faculty, which now houses two study programmes, namely Law and Psychology.
This year, FPHIS welcomed 145 new students, consisting of 42 students from the Law Study Programme and 103 students from the Psychology Study Programme. Their arrival was warmly welcomed through a series of events, including a collaborative choreography performance by HIMA Hukum and HIMA Psikologi, which added to the lively atmosphere.
Additionally, this event also featured representatives of the new students' guardians to strengthen the synergy between the faculty, students, and parents. The presence of the Student Association (HIMA) also contributed fully to supporting this welcome.
The Rector of UMPWR stated in his speech, ‘We hope that with this change, the new faculty can cover a wider scope and open opportunities for new study programmes in the future.’
This SOTK event was not only an introduction to the faculty but also a moment of new hope for FPHIS to continue to develop and produce outstanding generations in the fields of law, psychology, and social sciences.
