Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) officially signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Directorate General of Teachers, Education Personnel, and Teacher Education, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education of the Republic of Indonesia, on Friday (September 12, 2025) at the Plaza Insan Berprestasi Complex of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Jakarta.
This cooperation is carried out in the context of implementing the Academic Qualification Fulfillment Program for Kindergarten and Elementary School Teachers, involving 92 Teacher Training Institutions (LPTK) throughout Indonesia. UMPWR is one of the LPTKs trusted to play an active role in efforts to improve the quality of education through improving teacher academic qualifications.
UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., said that the signing of this cooperation agreement is a form of UMPWR's commitment to supporting government programs, particularly in providing access to quality higher education for teachers.
“We are ready to contribute fully to this strategic program by providing the best academic services so that teachers can improve their qualifications, professionalism, and competence in line with the demands of the times,” he said.
Through this program, kindergarten and elementary school teachers who do not yet have a bachelor's or diploma degree will be facilitated to continue their studies at LPTK organizers, including at UMPWR. Thus, it is hoped that more teachers in Indonesia will meet academic qualification standards. UMPWR's participation in this program is clear evidence of Muhammadiyah universities' contribution to improving the quality of national education.
