Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) held a joint inauguration ceremony for the Student Organisation (Ormawa) administrators for the 2025/2026 term on Friday afternoon (29/8/25). Present as representatives were 36 Ormawa chairpersons, comprising 7 Ortom, 14 UKM and 15 HIMA. Also present were UMPWR Rector Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd, Vice Rector for Student Affairs Dr. Budi Setiawan, M.Si, and Head of the Student Affairs, Promotion, and Admissions Office Dr. Hermawan, M.Pd.I. The Vice Rector for Student Affairs gave a speech emphasising that student organisations must be a place for students to learn, hone their soft skills, and achieve academic and non-academic achievements.
The Rector of UMPWR delivered a vision speech about a campus that excels in science, technology, and entrepreneurship based on Islamic values. In his speech, Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd emphasised that student organisations must also synergise their vision and work programmes with the university. Achieving university excellence requires support from students and student organisations; student achievements are university achievements. Therefore, student organisations are expected to focus more on programmes that emphasise reasoning and scholarship, as well as research and development (for HIMA). Meanwhile, for UKM, which tends to focus more on interests and talents, programmes that support non-academic achievements based on science, sports, and arts should also be a priority.
Following this joint inauguration ceremony, student organizations will be given the opportunity to submit their work programs and annual budgets in accordance with the provisions issued by the student affairs department. The 2025/2026 budget period will begin on September 1, 2025, and end on August 31, 2026.
