Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) – To celebrate its 61st anniversary, UMPWR organised a badminton tournament for faculty members and staff, held on Friday, 22 August 2025, at the Bina Persahabatan Building in Purworejo. The tournament featured two categories: men’s doubles and women’s doubles, with participants from various faculties and departments within UMPWR. The event was filled with a lively atmosphere from the start, accompanied by cheers and support from the audience.
In addition to being a sporting and social event, this activity is also expected to strengthen solidarity and unity among the academic community. The Chair of the 61st Anniversary Committee of UMPWR stated that such sporting events serve as a means to foster sportsmanship while maintaining physical fitness amidst academic and administrative busyness.
The Rector of UMPWR, Associate Professor Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., also expressed his appreciation for the participation of lecturers and staff in this competition. “This 61st anniversary is not only celebrated through academic and ceremonial activities, but also through activities that strengthen brotherhood. May this spirit of togetherness continue to be maintained and become a positive energy for all of us,” he said.
The competition was intense and competitive, yet it upheld sportsmanship. This event demonstrated that UMPWR’s anniversary is not merely a birthday celebration but also a platform to strengthen brotherhood, unity, and the spirit of continuing to Inspire and Empower.
