Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) officially kicked off its 61st anniversary celebrations with the hosting of a Table Tennis Tournament for Faculty and Staff on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Kasman Singodimedjo Auditorium of UMPWR. The tournament, which was attended by dozens of faculty members and staff, was held in a lively and spirited atmosphere, fostering camaraderie among the academic community. The matches were divided into two categories: men's singles and men's doubles.
Dr. Sapardiyono, S.Hut., M.H., Chairman of the 61st Anniversary of UMPWR, stated that this event is not only a sporting event but also a symbol of unity and solidarity within the UMPWR community. “Sports unite us. With the spirit of sportsmanship and brotherhood, we begin this 61st Anniversary series with full optimism,” he said.

The Rector of UMPWR, Dr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., in his speech said that this table tennis competition between lecturers and staff is expected to be lively, while maintaining sportsmanship to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. Additionally, the Rector urged faculty members and staff to ensure that while participating in the anniversary activities, services at UMPWR remain optimal and well-managed.
This table tennis tournament marks the beginning of various activities to be held in celebration of UMPWR's 61st anniversary. With the motto “Inspiring and Empowering,” UMPWR hopes that this year's anniversary will inspire, impact, and be sustainable. (akb/KP).
