Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) will commemorate its 61st anniversary, which falls on September 24, 2025, by hosting a series of festive and meaningful events. This year's celebration will run from August to November 2025, involving various parties, including academic staff, teachers, elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as the general public. The theme of UMPWR's 61st anniversary is “UMPWR Inspires, Impacts, and Sustains: 61 Years of UMPWR Building a Civilization of Knowledge.”
The 61st Anniversary activities are designed into two main categories. First, internal activities aimed at strengthening bonds and camaraderie among faculty members and staff. Various activities such as table tennis tournaments, fun volleyball games, and badminton matches are prepared to foster a spirit of cooperation and unity within the campus community.
Second, external activities targeting the broader community, particularly the education sector. UMPWR organized diverse activities involving teachers, students from elementary school, junior high school/MTs, to senior high school/SMK/MA levels, as well as the general public. The agenda included digital learning media competitions, poetry and short story creation contests, anti-bullying ambassadors, volleyball matches, a 5K Fun Run for the public, and table tennis and badminton matches among Muhammadiyah charitable organizations.
UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., emphasized that the 61st anniversary celebration is an important moment to strengthen the university's contribution to the advancement of education and community development. “Through this series of activities, we want to present UMPWR as an inspiring, impactful, and sustainable institution. Not only for the internal campus community, but also for all levels of society,” he said.
The highlight of UMPWR’s 61st anniversary will be held on September 24, 2025, with a festive yet reflective event, as a form of gratitude for the university’s long journey in serving education and the nation’s progress.
The series of activities for the 61st Anniversary of UMPWR are as follows:
1. Anti-Bullying Ambassador Competition for high school/vocational school/madrasah students, Poetry Writing Competition, Short Story Writing Competition, and Scientific Writing Workshop, Digital Learning Media Competition for elementary, junior high, and high school teachers, to be held in August–September 2025;
2. Table Tennis Competition among Faculty and Staff (August 15, 2025);
3. Fun Plastic Volleyball Game among Faculty and Staff (August 17, 2025);
4. International BMC Competition and Create Poetry 2025 (August–October 2025)
5. Badminton Tournament for Male and Female Faculty and Staff of UMPWR (August 22, 2025);
6. Welcome Parade for New Students, Staff, and Faculty of UMPWR (September 19, 2025);
7. 61st Anniversary Bazaar of UMPWR (September 22, 23, 24, 2025);
8. Distribution of Basic Food Supplies (September 22, 2025);
9. Blood Donation Drive (September 24, 2025);
10. 61st Anniversary Celebration Gala Dinner (September 24, 2025);
11. Islamic Song Singing Competition for High Schools/Vocational Schools/Islamic High Schools in Purworejo Regency (Week of September 4, 2025);
12. Adhan Competition among UMPWR Students in Semesters 2–6 (Week of October 1, 2025);
13. Volleyball Tournament for Boys and Girls among High Schools/Vocational Schools/Islamic High Schools in Purworejo Regency (Week of October 2, 2025);
14. MTQ Competition among UMPWR Students in Semesters 2-6 (Week of October 3, 2025);
15. 5K FUN RUN for the General Public (Week of October 4, 2025);
