Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) - The Primary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD) conducted a review of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The event, held in the Main Meeting Room of the UMPWR Rectorate Building, featured Dr. Firmansyah, S.Pd., M.Pd. from Yogyakarta State University (UNY) as the keynote speaker, who provided both the material and guidance throughout the curriculum refinement process.
The Head of the PGSD Program at UMPWR, Rintis Rizkia Pangestika, M.Pd., stated in her opening remarks that this curriculum review is a strategic step to ensure the alignment of the PGSD program’s curriculum with contemporary developments in science and technology. “This OBE-based curriculum review aims to verify whether the existing curriculum is in line with contemporary developments and whether it is competent for implementation,” she said. The Head of the Program hopes that this curriculum review will generate constructive feedback and recommendations and serve as an important milestone for the advancement of PGSD UMPWR.

The Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Dr. Riawan Yudi Purwoko, M.Pd., stated that the curriculum is designed to ensure that graduates can remain competitive in the face of changing times and the demands of the job market. Therefore, the curriculum should be applicable for the next 3–5 years, or no longer than 5 years.
In his presentation, Dr. Firmansyah emphasized the importance of developing a curriculum that is relevant, measurable, and focused on learning outcomes. He also outlined strategies for implementing OBE in higher education institutions, including assessment methods and the development of Semester Learning Plans (RPS) that align with learning outcomes.
This review activity involved all PGSD UMPWR lecturers, who actively provided input for curriculum improvement. The hope is that through this activity, the PGSD UMPWR curriculum can become more adaptive, responsive, and capable of producing competent, professional graduates who are ready to face global challenges in the field of basic education.
