Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) paid a visit to Muhammadiyah University of Magelang (UNIMMA) on Wednesday, 6 August 2025, as part of efforts to strengthen ties between Muhammadiyah universities. Uniquely, the event was organised in the form of a friendly sports competition between faculty members and staff from both institutions.
Received in the Rectorate Meeting Room on the 2nd floor of UNIMMA, in his opening remarks, UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., stated that this activity was one of the ways to refresh after the conclusion of the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The Rector also requested prayers and support from UNIMMA to soon achieve the Excellent Institutional Accreditation ranking. The Rector emphasised that the focus of the competition is not on winning or losing, but rather on strengthening camaraderie.
‘It's not about winning, what's important is that the relationship between UMPWR and UNIMMA grows stronger. Always maintain sportsmanship during the competition,’ he said.

This friendly competition featured three sports: badminton, tennis, and table tennis, with a total of 31 lecturers and staff from UMPWR participating. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm yet remained warm and friendly throughout the matches, showcasing both sportsmanship and camaraderie between UMPWR and UNIMMA.
Interestingly, the Rector of UMPWR and the Rector of UNIMMA, Dr. Lilik Andriyani, S.E., M.Si., also joined in to liven up the matches. The involvement of university leadership serves as a strong symbol that synergy and collaboration can begin in simple shared spaces, such as sports. This casual gathering is hoped to continue and serve as an example for other universities to build collaboration with a spirit of togetherness. (akb/KP).
