Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) has once again achieved a commendable ranking on the national stage. According to the latest Webometrics ranking for July 2025, UMPWR secured the 3rd position among Muhammadiyah and 'Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA) in Central Java, the 6th position among the best private higher education institutions (PTS) in Central Java, and ranked 14th among the best PTMA institutions nationally.
The Webometrics ranking, released every six months by Cybermetrics Lab, a research institution under the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), evaluates over 30,000 higher education institutions worldwide based on three main indicators: Visibility (Impact), Transparency (Openness), and Excellence (Scholar).
UMPWR Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., expressed gratitude for this achievement. “Alhamdulillah, this achievement is the result of the collective efforts of the entire UMPWR academic community in building an academically excellent campus, adaptable to technological developments, and active in scientific publications and community service. May UMPWR’s ranking continue to improve both nationally and internationally in the future,” he said.
‘We will use the results of this ranking as an evaluation and motivation to continue innovating, strengthening global collaboration, and maintaining the quality of Muhammadiyah higher education. We are committed to presenting UMPWR as an inspiring, impactful, and sustainable campus,’ added the Rector.
With this achievement, UMPWR further solidifies its position as one of the leading private universities in Central Java and as part of the PTMA network that performs exceptionally well on a national scale.
