Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) has once again achieved a remarkable feat in the world of student entrepreneurship. At the MCEBI 2025 Studentpreneur Bootcamp, organised by the Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubator (MCEBI), a team of UMPWR students successfully brought home three awards.

This prestigious event, organised by the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah in collaboration with the Borobudur Authority Management Board (BPOB) Central Java, featured activities held at two locations: Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY) and Tebing Breksi Tourism Village, including seminars, mentoring sessions, entrepreneurship competitions, and business meetings from 19–21 July 2025. A number of bureaucrats, entrepreneurs, academics, media representatives, government agencies, business industries, and higher education institutions attended the event.

Attendees included Food Minister Zulkifli Hasan, Deputy Minister for SMEs Helvi Yuni Moraza, Yogyakarta Mayor Hasto Wardoyo, and Prof. Bambang Setiaji, Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Education, Research, and Development Council, as seminar speakers. Prof. Nadratuzzaman Hosen, Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Halal Certification Agency, and BPOB Finance Director Yusuf Haryanto served as mentors. Endang Rudiatin, Chairperson of MCEBI, stated that this year saw an increase in the number of participants and PTMA involvement, with 75 student-run businesses and 10 village tourism entrepreneurs participating.

MCEBI was established by PTMA across Indonesia with the vision of cultivating a new generation of competent and ethical entrepreneurs under the theme of Becoming Muslim-technopreneurs. The event commenced on Saturday, 19 July 2025, with the opening ceremony held at the UMY Student Dormitory building. The opening ceremony featured a seminar with keynote speaker Dr. H.C Zulkifli Hasan, S.E., M.M. (Coordinating Minister for Food). The event continued with a product display visited by the Minister and his entourage, including members of the House of Representatives Commission X, Varel Bramastya.

In front of all PTMA students across Indonesia, Zulhas, the Minister of Food Security, expressed his hope that the Studentpreneur Bootcamp would become the starting point for the emergence of a Muslim technopreneur movement that advocates for the interests of the people.

“You are future entrepreneurs who are not only smart at making profits but also at uplifting the dignity of the ummah. You can be part of the solution to transform Indonesia’s economy into one that is more just and progressive,” he said.

On the second day (20/7), the event was held at the breccia cliff, starting with mentoring, training, and business assistance activities. Students also displayed their products at the breccia cliff, which were evaluated by a team of professional judges in their respective fields. UMPWR sent several of its best teams, and the results were very impressive. The three awards won by UMPWR in this event include:

1. First Place for Best Video in the Ready-to-Eat Culinary Category (Ringgo Rolls)

2. Second Place for Best Video in the Fashion Category (Dehiera)

3. Third Place for Business Matching in the Fashion Category (Dehiera)

These awards were achieved thanks to creativity, teamwork, and intensive guidance from faculty advisors. The Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the students' achievements.

“This achievement is proof that UMPWR students have a high level of competitiveness in the field of entrepreneurship. May this achievement inspire other students to continue innovating and contributing to society,” he said.

On the third day of the event (21/7), the programme continued with an interactive discussion and hearing the success story of MCEBI tenant Enggit Nufajria from the University of Muhammadiyah Riau, who was on a panel with Kadin Chairman Prof. Mufti Mubarok.

During the Bootcamp, MCEBI carried out the mandate of the Muhammadiyah Research and Development Council to hold an Impactful Entrepreneurship workshop, which was attended by 35 entrepreneurship lecturers and business incubators from various PTMA. This workshop produced recommendations for an entrepreneurship teaching plan, including theory and practical methods. The workshop was attended by the Secretary of the Muhammadiyah Central Board, M. Sayuti, and members of the Education, Research, and Development Council, Prof. Mahfud Solihin and Andi Bawono.

The MCEBI Studentpreneur Bootcamp serves as a concrete step by UMPWR in realising its vision of a campus that is not only academically excellent but also actively cultivates resilient, creative, and adaptable young entrepreneurs capable of tackling the challenges of the modern era. (akb/KP).
