Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - held a briefing and deployment of Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) Year 2025 on Tuesday, 22 July 2025. The briefing, which was held online, carried the theme ‘Strengthening Family Welfare through Healthy Home Education, Improving Household Health, and Validating and Verifying Uninhabitable Homes in Purworejo Regency’. This activity was also attended by the Rector, Vice Rector I, Vice Rector III, Head of LPPM, and field supervisors (DPL).

In his report, the Head of the UMPWR Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM), Dr Heru Kurniawan, M.Pd., explained that this Thematic KKN is a special KKN because it is different from the previous KKN, especially in terms of implementation time. ‘This KKN is special, usually UMPWR KKN is held in January, but this time it is in July and must be followed by students who get KIP-K scholarships,’ he explained.

Furthermore, Dr Heru said that the Thematic KKN 2025 will be attended by 291 students and will be implemented in 7 sub-districts - 215 villages in Purworejo Regency. The focus of this Thematic KKN activity is on Validation and Verification of Uninhabitable Houses (RTLH), which amounts to 2,996 houses out of a total of around nine thousand uninhabitable houses in Purworejo Regency. In addition to RTLH verification and validation, this KKN also conducts education about education, health, psychology, or agriculture as a form of strengthening and additional knowledge to the community, as well as socialisation and skills training for community empowerment.

Vice Rector III of UMPWR, Dr Budi Setiawan, S.Sos, M.Si, said that more than 60% of social change in remote areas starts from the initiative of students who do KKN. Dr Budi emphasised that data from the results of RTLH verification and validation will be very useful for the community and government, and this KKN will also add a lot of knowledge for students, one of which is improving soft skills. Dr Budi advised students to always maintain their attitude and ethics in interacting with the community.

Vice Rector I of UMPWR Dr Dwi Irawati, S.E., M.Si. expressed her gratitude to the provincial and district governments for their cooperation and collaboration in the implementation of UMPWR's Thematic KKN 2025. WR I hopes that this activity will run smoothly, enjoy, and have an impact on the community.
