Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - The Mathematics Education Study Program successfully held the 2025 National Seminar on Mathematics and Mathematics Education (SENDIKA) on Saturday, 5 July 2025. The event, which took place at the Auditorium Kasman Singodimedjo UMPWR, raised the theme ‘Deep Learning Transformation to Realise Quality Mathematics Education.’
This seminar presented 3 renowned speakers, namely Prof. Imam Solekhudin, M.Si., Ph.D. (UGM), Dr. Imam Sujadi, M.Si (UNS), and Dr. Puji Nugraheni, S.Si., M.Pd (UMPWR). Also present was the Rector of UMPWR Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., Dean of FKIP Dr. Riawan Yudi Purwoko, M.Pd., Head of Department and all lecturers and education staff of UMPWR Mathematics Education Study Program.
SENDIKA 2025 was attended by 42 presenters and 72 non-presenters, with presenters from various universities including Sebelas Maret University, Sriwijaya University, Sanata Dharma University, Bogor Agricultural University, Medan State University, Universitas Merdeka Madiun, STKIP Muhammadiyah Pagaralam, Universitas Veteran Bangun Nusantara, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Insan Cita Indonesia University, and STAI Nahdlatul Ulama Purworejo.
SENDIKA 2025 was held to dissect, examine, and provide an understanding of the transformation of deep learning to realise quality Mathematics Education. The Head of the UMPWR Mathematics Education Study Programme, Wharyanti Ika Purwaningsih, M.Pd said that SENDIKA 2025 is a concrete effort to answer the challenges of 21st century education, especially in strengthening deep learning in the field of mathematics.
Prof. Imam Sholekhudin, M. Si., Ph. D in his presentation said that every real problem can be solved using a mathematical point of view. Therefore, mathematics should not be seen as just a formula but rather a way of thinking logically and critically.
Dr Imam Sujadi, M.Sc., said that the key to deep learning is to function the teacher truly as a facilitator so that they can use everyday contexts as sources and teaching materials. From there, the principle of deep learning in a conscious, meaningful, and fun way can be achieved. Furthermore, Dr Puji Nugraheni, S. Si., M. Pd explained that curriculum changes are absolutely necessary to prepare generations for future challenges.
With the implementation of SENDIKA 2025, it is hoped that there will be an improvement in the quality of mathematics learning at various levels of education and the establishment of a collaborative network between educators and researchers in the development of relevant, innovative, and quality mathematics education.
