Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo (UMPWR) has once again taken a strategic step in internationalizing its campus. This momentum was marked during the Indonesia-Philippines Networking Forum 2025, attended by 13 Philippine universities, held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Muhammadiyah University of Prof. Dr. Hamka (Uhamka), Jakarta, on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

UMPWR expanded its international reach through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with seven renowned universities from the Philippines. The seven partner universities from the Philippines that agreed to collaborate with UMPWR are:

1. Holy Angel University

2. La Consolacion University

3. Pampanga State University

4. Columban College Inc

5. Jose Rizal University

6. Angeles University Foundation

7. Bataan Peninsula State University

This forum is part of the efforts initiated by ASKUI PTMA (Association of International Affairs Office of Muhammadiyah Private Universities) to strengthen cross-country cooperation based on Muhammadiyah values in the framework of academic collaboration with foreign university partners.

The Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd, expressed his hope that this partnership will drive UMPWR to become a more open campus to global educational developments. "Cross-country partnerships are strategic investments to produce graduates who can compete internationally and strengthen the campus's position in global academic networks," he said.

The Vice Rector for Cooperation and AIK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tusino, M.Pd, added that this partnership is not just about expanding networks but also strengthening institutional capabilities in creating a dynamic and progressive academic atmosphere.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jeki Wibawanti, Head of the Cooperation and International Affairs Bureau (KUI) of UMPWR, stated that this collaboration is an expansion of the campus's global network, particularly in Southeast Asia. "This collaboration opens up new opportunities for students and lecturers to interact in a diverse international academic environment, including research collaboration, community service activities, and internships for students at various partner campuses in the Philippines," said Dr. Jeki.

In addition to the signing of the MoU, the forum also featured various agendas such as institutional profile presentations, academic discussions, and bilateral meetings between universities to discuss the implementation plans of the agreed-upon programs.

This step demonstrates UMPWR's commitment to providing high-quality, open, and competitive higher education at the international level.
