University of Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - through the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Program held the Gelar Karya PPG Student Teacher Candidates Batch II Year 2024 on Wednesday, 28 May 2025. This activity is part of the culmination of a series of teacher professional education and training processes that aim to showcase the results of learning innovations and best practices from prospective teachers.
This activity was held at the Kasman Singodimedjo Auditorium and was attended by all PPG Teacher Candidate Batch II Year 2024 students from various fields of study, such as Mathematics Education, Automotive Engineering Education, English Education, and Indonesian Language and Literature Education. Each participant presented the results of their innovative work developed during the PPG programme, both in the form of learning media, teaching tools, and creative learning models.
Arifudin, a student of PPG Mathematics Education who is also the chairman of the committee of this activity, said that the theme of this work title was ‘Building a Spirit of Leadership Through Training and Development for All People’. This work title is an assignment from the PPG compulsory course, namely the Leadership Project. This Leadership Project work title hopes that the creativity and innovation carried out can inspire and be applied in the future in the world of education. This degree is expected to open a space for discussion for further development in order to create a positive impact on the wider community.
Arifudin reported that there were 12 groups in this work title consisting of 4 Automotive Engineering Education groups, 3 Mathematics Education groups, 3 English Education groups, and 2 Indonesian Language and Literature Education groups. There are two activities in this work title, namely presentations from each group and visits to each stand.
Dr. Yuli Widiyono M.Pd., as Head of the UMPWR PPG Program, said that the Leadership Project course is a compulsory course which is one of the graduation requirements set by the ministry. Dr Yuli hopes that the products and works can be an experience for PPG Teacher Candidate students when teaching in schools in the future, and become a provision as a teacher.
Dr Riawan Yudi Purwoko, M.Pd., as the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of UMPWR explained that the leadership in question is learning leadership. "The leadership in question is learning leadership. Teachers must be able to lead learning, and teachers must also be able to exist" he explained. The Dean of FKIP also advised PPG Teacher Candidate students to become teachers whose presence is awaited by their students.
In addition to being an appreciation event for student work, this activity is also a forum for sharing best practices that can be adopted in improving the quality of education in schools. Some innovative works that attract attention include Scrapbook Learning Media Oriented to Mathematics Learning Interest and Creativity of Learners, Utilisation of Rafia Rope to Increase the Selling Value of Crafts in Baledono Village, Optimisation of Orphanage Children's Art Creativity through Exploration of Leaf Motifs in Ecoprint, and so on.
These works not only demonstrate the pedagogical and professional competence of the prospective teachers, but also illustrate their passion and commitment in creating meaningful learning for students. The UMPWR PPG Student Work Show is expected to be a sustainable academic tradition and an inspiration for improving the quality of teachers in Indonesia. (akb/KP).
