Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - through the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture again showed its commitment to improving academic quality by holding a Guest Lecture entitled ‘Socio-Economic Statistics’ on Friday, 23 May 2025. This activity was held in Classroom C.2.8 Campus II Plaosan UMPWR and was attended by 25 students who took the Socio-Economic Statistics course and the lecturer Arta Kusumaningrum, S.P., M.Sc.
This event presented expert speakers in the field of socio-economic statistics, namely Arif Wahyu Widada, S.P., M.Sc. Lecturer of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Programme, Department of Agricultural Social Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). In his presentation, he discussed the important role of statistics in understanding the socio-economic dynamics of agrarian society, as well as its application in agribusiness research.
The lecturer in charge of the Socio-Economic Statistics course, Arta Kusumaningrum, S.P., M.Sc., said that the Socio-Economic Statistics Guest Lecture can provide new references for students and can increase varied lecture activities. In addition to the material presentation session, the guest lecture was also filled with interactive discussions involving students in analysing socio-economic data and case studies in the agricultural and agribusiness sectors. The enthusiasm of the participants could be seen from the many questions and critical responses that arose during the session.
With the implementation of this activity, it is hoped that UMPWR Agribusiness students will increasingly understand the importance of the statistical approach in analysing socio-economic phenomena in society, and be able to integrate it in the development of data-based and sustainable agribusiness.
