UMPWR Strengthens Role in Southeast Asia, Receives Emerging Collaboration Partner Award from SEAMEO TED

Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - received a prestigious award from SEAMEO TED (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Technical Education Development). The award was presented directly by Dr. Songheang Ai, Director of SEAMEO TED, together with H.E. Dr. Kolphemg Vaddhana, representative of the Kingdom of Cambodia, during the international forum of The 2nd China-SEA Partnership Workshop held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on 12-13 May 2025. The award was given as Emerging Collaboration Partner. This award was given for UMPWR's work in strengthening the synergy of cooperation and education across countries, especially in the Southeast Asia region.

SEAMEO TED is one of the SEAMEO regional centres that focuses on the development of vocational and technical education. It plays an important role in supporting its member countries to create sustainable solutions in the field of human resource development through innovative educational approaches.

This award is a form of appreciation for UMPWR's active commitment in establishing international cooperation, especially in creating collaboration opportunities in the field of education. UMPWR is considered to have taken an important part in supporting the SEAMEO TED programme and encouraging the formation of an educational ecosystem that is adaptive and responsive to global challenges.


Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo Assos. Prof. Dr Teguh Wibowo, expressed his gratitude for this achievement that this award is the result of the joint work of the entire academic community. ‘This is proof that UMPWR's active role is recognised at the international level. We believe that cross-country collaboration is the key to creating a superior and competitive education system,’ he explained.

Assoc. Prof Dr Tusino also added that this achievement further strengthens UMPWR's position as an institution committed to promoting inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable education at the regional level.

UMPWR representative Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jeki Wibawanti as head of Cooperation and International Affairs (KUI) who attended the forum said that it was an honour and appreciation for the award received. ‘This is a positive encouragement for UMPWR to continue expanding its network of strategic collaborations, both at the regional and international levels. We will continue to contribute through various innovative and collaborative programmes.
