Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - strengthened its strategic position in the global education scene by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Marikina Polytechnic College (MPC), Philippines. The signing took place during the 2nd China-SEA Partnership Workshop, held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The MoU was signed by the Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr Teguh Wibowo and Rene M. Colocar, Ph.D., President of Marikina Polytechnic College. The collaboration includes student and lecturer exchange programmes, joint research, and institutional capacity building.
UMPWR Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, said that the signing of the MoU is part of UMPWR's commitment in realising campus internationalisation.
‘This cooperation is one of our concrete steps in opening access to a wide international network for the UMPWR academic community. This is also in line with our vision to become a superior university that is globally competitive while upholding Islamic values,’ said Dr Teguh.
Vice Rector for Cooperation and AIK, Assoc. Prof Dr Tusino, added that the collaboration is expected to bring strategic benefits in supporting the development of the tridharma of higher education.
‘We hope that through this partnership, various cross-border academic and community service initiatives will be born that can enrich the international experience of our students and lecturers,’ explained Dr Tusino.
On the same occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr Jeki Wibawanti as the head of Cooperation and International Affairs of KUI expressed her optimism that this cooperation will soon be followed up with concrete activities in the fields of education and research.
‘We are very enthusiastic about this cooperation. Hopefully, the collaboration between UMPWR and MPC can create great opportunities for the academic and professional growth of both institutions,’ he concluded.
With the establishment of this collaboration, UMPWR reaffirms its commitment in actively contributing to the strengthening of inclusive and sustainable international academic networks.
