Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - Concerned with the rampant traitors of the nation (Corruptors), Student Regiment (Menwa) Unit 939 Cakar Elang UMPWR took a proactive step by organising an anti-corruption-themed counseling activity, which carries the title ‘Strengthening Generation Z Anti-Corruption Education as an Effort to Realise Good Citizenship’ at SMA N 11 Purworejo on Saturday, 10 May 2025. As an effort to strengthen the young generation with integrity.
A total of 45 SMA N 11 Purworejo students who are members of the extracurricular School Security Patrol (PKS) enthusiastically participated in this activity. Galih Bagas Soesilo, S.H., LL.M., as a coach from the Student Regiment (Menwa) Unit 939 Cakar Elang UMPWR, was present as the main speaker. The material presented included an in-depth understanding of the definition and types of corruption, factors that trigger corruptive behaviour, and strict legal consequences for perpetrators. In addition, this activity also emphasised the importance of building a culture of integrity through principles such as accountability, transparency, and fairness as well as the power of Gen Z.
In his presentation, Galih Bagas Soesilo said, ‘Generation Z has a strategic role in nation building. The 2020 Population Census data shows that Generation Z in Indonesia reached 74.93 million people, or 27.94% of the total population. Therefore, instilling anti-corruption values to Gen Z is an important investment for the future,’ he said.
Oktavia Mursita, Commander of UMPWR Menwa 939 Cakar Elang Unit, in her speech said that this activity is expected to be a positive spark that spreads among Generation Z, especially the participants who take part in this counseling. As well as encouraging students to internalise anti-corruption values in real action.
This counselling agenda, interspersed with interactive discussions and various case studies is used to spark critical thinking and encourage active student participation. This synergy between campus and school is a good model in a collective effort to build and create a good society, starting from a young generation with character and responsibility, for a more prosperous Indonesia.
