UMPWR Rector Opens the Implementation of Baitul Arqam Student Class 2022 Academic Year 2024/2025

University of Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - through the Institute for the Study, Deepening, Practice of Al Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (LP3AK) organised the Baitul Arqam Student Class of 2022 Academic Year 2024/2025. This activity was officially opened by the Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., on Friday, 9 May 2025 in the East Campus Seminar Room of the UMPWR Rectorate building. Also attending the opening ceremony were Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs Dr. Dwi Irawati, S.E., M.Si., Vice Rector IV for Cooperation and AIK Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tusino, M.Pd. Prof. Dr. Tusino, M.Pd.B.I., Head of LP3AK H. Nasrudin, MSI, and LP3AK Assessment Division Ari Fajar Isbakhi, M.Pd.I.

This Baitul Arqam aims to shape the character of students who are Islamic, noble, and have high spiritual awareness. This activity is also expected to increase student awareness and participation in Islamic, Muhammadiyah and community activities. Baitul Arqam this time was attended by all students of class 2022 (semester 6) from all study programmes at UMPWR which will be held during May - June 2025. Each study programme is scheduled to attend Baitul Arqam for two days each week.


Head of the UMPWR LP3AK Study Division, Ari Fajar Isbakhi, M.Pd.I in his remarks said that there were 898 students from the 2022 batch from various study programmes at UMPWR who participated in this Baitul Arqam. During the Baitul Arqam activity, students will follow various materials and activities, such as Islamic studies, Muhammadiyah, Quran tahsin, and social activities. This activity will also be filled with tausiyah and motivation from experienced LP3AK lecturers. Ari Fajar explained that some of the material will be provided for students including da'wah, the Quran, and also the care of the body. 

UMPWR Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., in his speech said that Baitul Arqam at UMPWR was not only attended by students but also by lecturers and staff. Baitul Arqam is also expected to make students participate in developing Muhammadiyah. ‘Our hope is that by participating in this Baitul Arqam, as well as being Muhammadiyah cadres, the students who study here can take part in developing Muhammadiyah,’ he said.

Furthermore, the rector explained that Muhammadiyah is not only an organisation but also a movement. ‘Our hope is that as the successors of Muhammadiyah and plunge into society, this activity is part of the activities of the Muhammadiyah association. Please obey the rules and God willing, this activity will be useful in our lives,’ he concluded. (akb / KP).
