Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - Postgraduate Program established cooperation in the chess dharma of PTMA and New Student Admission (PMB) with the Basic and Secondary Education and Non-formal Education (Dikdasmen-PNF) Assembly in the ex-Kariseidenan Kedu on Monday, 5 May 2025. The activity, which was marked by the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), was held in the Main Meeting Room of UMPWR and attended by the heads of the Dikdasmen-PNF assemblies, such as Drs. H. Bunadi, MM (Purworejo), Drs. H. Suharna, M., M.Pd. (Wonosono), Drs. Muh Rofi, M.Pd. (Magelang District), Ir. Mudiyono, M.M. (Temanggung), H. Sairun, M.Pd. (Kebumen), and S. Edi Sucahyo, S.E., S.T., MM. (Magelang City).
Also present from the UMPWR side were the Chairman of the Daily Board of Trustees, Drs. Muh. Hamidi, M.Pd., UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh WIbowo, M.Pd., Postgraduate Director Dr. Sudar, M.Pd., Chairperson of the Master of English Education Study Program, Dr. Semi Sukarni, M.Pd., Chairperson of the Master of Mathematics Education Study Program, Dr. Puji Nugraheni, M.Pd., and Head of the Promotion and Student Affairs Bureau, Dr. Hermawan, M.Pd.I. One of the objectives of this collaboration is to improve the quality of education and human resource development in the Ex-Kariseidenan Kedu region.
The Chairman of the Daily Board of Trustees, Drs. Muh. Hamidi, M.Pd, hoped that the signing of this MoA would not only be ceremonial, but must be followed up immediately with real action. Drs. Hamidi, said that lecturers at UMPWR Postgraduate must have doctoral degrees. Furthermore, he said that currently UMPWR is always ranked in the top 10 best PTMAs, even in the former karisisdenan kedu UMPWR is ranked as the best campus by Webometrics, so UMPWR can be the best choice for those who want to continue their education including postgraduate.
‘We hope that the existing cooperation can continue to develop to raise the company and educate the nation's life,’ he concluded.
UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh WIbowo, M.Pd, on the occasion conveyed the mandate of the Education and Research Council of PP Muhammadiyah, that every Muhammadiyah cadre must attend school or study at Muhammadiyah Charity. ‘I see that Muhammadiyah high school graduates are still proud to study at state universities. The graduates should be proud and choose to continue their studies at PTMA,’ explained the Rector. Therefore, the Rector hopes that the Majelis Dikdasmen-PNF can direct teachers in schools to be proud to do further studies (S2) at PTMA, including providing direction to their students.
S. Edi Sucahyo, S.E., S.T., MM, who is also the coordinator of the Majelis Dikdasmen-PNS in the ex-Kisidenan Kedu area, welcomed the signing of this MoA. He hopes that teachers in Muhammadiyah schools will not only have a Bachelor's degree but also a Master's degree. ‘With this MoA, hopefully it can increase the joint commitment to advance AUM in terms of quality and teaching. Hopefully this MoA will soon be followed up, and provide mutual benefits between UMPWR and Muhammadiyah schools,’ he hoped.
UMPWR Postgraduate Director Dr Sudar, M.Pd., said the need to build public trust in PTMA, so that people are interested in continuing their studies both S1 and S2 at PTMA. Dr Sudar also said that there is a tuition fee discount for teachers from Muhammadiyah schools, which is 30% for Masters in Mathematics Education, and 50% for Masters in English Education.
