Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - further affirmed its commitment in developing global education through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (NSPU). This important agenda was successfully held offline at the UMPWR Campus on Monday, 28 April 2025.  Attended and witnessed by all Vice Chancellors (WR), Deans, Postgraduate Directors, Heads of Study Programmes, and the Bureau of Cooperation and International Affairs (KUI) UMPWR and from the NSPU Prof. Ekaterina A. Kostina, PhD.

The MoA signing event is a follow-up to the MoU that was made on the previous agenda and is evidence of the strong commitment of the two institutions, marking the potential for significant collaboration in various fields of education, research, and community service in the future. The main agenda in this activity was the signing of cooperation agreements between NSPU and various faculties in UMPWR. This is expected to open up opportunities for faculty and student exchanges, research collaborations, joint seminars and conferences, and the development of innovative academic programmes.

UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd, in his speech expressed great enthusiasm for this collaboration. He stated that the partnership with NSPU, as one of the leading universities in Siberia, will have a significant positive impact on improving the quality of education and internationalisation of UMPWR.

‘We are very excited and honoured to establish cooperation with Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University. We believe that this transcontinental collaboration will open new horizons for our students and lecturers, as well as enrich the repertoire of knowledge in both institutions,’ said Assoc. Prof Dr Teguh.

A representative from NSPU, Prof Ekaterina, PhD (Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Language), also expressed her positive view on the potential of this collaboration. She emphasised the importance of international collaboration in facing global challenges in education and hoped that this partnership would be successful and sustainable.

‘We see UMPWR as a potential partner with the same spirit and vision in developing quality education. We are confident that through this cooperation, we can learn from each other and make greater contributions to the advancement of science and education at the international level,’ said Prof Ekaterina.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tusino as the WR for Cooperation and AIK stated that one of the implementations of cooperation during the NSPU visit was a research collaboration related to local wisdom with the Physics Education study programme.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jeki Wibawanti as the Head of KUI also hopes that cooperation related to mobility students will later be carried out by NSPU students around July-August for Summer Camp activities at UMPWR.

The signing of this MoA was witnessed to be clear evidence of UMPWR's commitment to expanding international networks and improving the quality of higher education. Hopefully, the implementation of this cooperation agreement will be widely implemented and provide tangible benefits for the academic community of both universities.
