Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - A total of 91 students of the Pre-Position Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Study Program participated in training activities to strengthen national insight and state defense on Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27, 2025. This event invited the theme “The Spirit of State Defense Realizes Prospective Teachers who are resilient, have character and excel in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. This activity was guided by personnel from Kodim 0708 Purworejo. This activity also began with an opening ceremony followed by material. Activities in the evening contained material and campfire lighting. On the next day, Sunday, April 27, 2025 with a closing ceremony.
The event was attended by PPG students, Vice Rector I Dr. Dwi Irawati, S. E., M. Si as a speaker, Vice Rector IV Dr. Tusino, M. Pd. B. I as well as PPG lecturers and organizers.
Dr. Yuli Widiyono, M.Pd. as coordinator and head of the UMPWR PPG study program said that the purpose of this event is for PPG students to be at the forefront in order to support education in Indonesia. This activity is expected that students have character in discipline, leadership and cooperation.
Vice Rector IV, Dr. Tusino, M.Pd.B.I. in his remarks said that state defense activities for PPG students are important for prospective educators. “The importance of this activity is to implement it in the classroom later and hopefully it can be applied to create a resilient generation not a fragile generation,” he said.
Chief of Staff of Kodim (KASDIM) 0708 Purworejo, Major Infantry Rokhyani in his speech said that the existence of these PPG students is a great hope for this country. Education has an important role in nation building and education has an important role for students to have good character. Rokhayani also emphasized that awareness of state defense is not only the responsibility of the TNI, but all elements of the nation including PPG students.
“This activity is expected to make PPG students become teachers who are not only intellectually intelligent but also morally tough and maintain national values and make today's students become human beings who love the country,” she said.
