Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - held a recitation in commemoration of Nuzulul Qur'an 1446 H on Sunday, 16 March 2025 or coinciding with the 17th of Ramadan 1446 H. This recitation was held at the UMPWR Campus Mosque and began after qiyamul lail (tarawih prayer). The speaker was Ustadz Drs. Jumari Al Ngluwary who is the Deputy Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership of Central Java.
In addition to the general congregation, the Nuzulul Qur'an recitation was also attended by University leaders, the Daily Board of Trustees, Lecturers, Tendik and UMPWR Students. Dr Jumari Al Ngluwary explained that the Qur'an is a guide for human life. ‘The Qur'an is a guide to human life, so we must understand the contents of the Qur'an’, he explained.
Drs. Jumari quoted the Qur'anic verse Surah Al A'raf (204) which means ‘And when the Quran is recited, then listen carefully, and pay attention quietly so that you may receive mercy’. He explained that the reason we enter heaven is the mercy of Allah. So, it is important for us to be able to get the grace of Allah, one of which is by practicing Surah Al A'raf verse 204, when the Qur'an is recited, we must listen and pay attention to it.
‘An example of Allah's Mercy is, when we live 100 years, but do good for 90 years, Allah still gives eternal paradise, not only limited to 90 years,’ he said.
Drs. Jumari conveyed some tips so that we can get the grace of Allah, including having to love each other, always upholding amar ma'ruf nahi munkar, establishing prayer, paying zakat, and obeying Allah and His Messenger. Drs. Jumari also explained that in prayer, one must always remember Allah, not sin after praying, and people who pray do not become stingy. The characteristics of people who always remember Allah are always careful because they believe they are always watched by Allah, confident because they believe they have Allah, and their lives are always humble.
‘The test of human obedience is when he is in a state of solitude alone. Not in a crowd. Don't be proud of being a good person only when in a crowd, because that's a common thing,’ he explained. (Akb/KP).
