Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - Student Activity Unit (UKM) English Study Centre (ESC) held the 11th English Festival 2025 on Saturday 22 February 2025 in the East Campus Seminar Room of the Rectorate Building. The 11th English Festival 2025 became a prestigious competition that was attended by 51 participants from various high schools/vocational schools throughout Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
The 11th English Festival 2025 presented various competition categories that challenged the participants' English skills, including Singing Competition, Speech Contest, Storytelling, Poster Design, and Short Video Competition. The event aims to encourage creativity, boost confidence, and strengthen communication skills in English among students.
The Chairperson of ESC, Alfa Rizky Cahya Bagaskara, and the Chairperson of the 11th English Festival 2025 Committee, Dian Dwi Lestari, were united in saying that this event is not only a forum for competition, but also a means for participants to share experiences and expand networks. Dr Puspa Dewi, M.Pd., as the advisor of ESC, also said that according to existing research, creativity has a positive impact on the success of young entrepreneurs. In line with the theme of the 11th English Festival 2025 ‘Show Your Talent, Unleash Your Creativity and Shine the Brightest of You’, Dr. Puspa Dewi, M.Pd. hoped that through this event students can enhance their creativity and become a stepping stone for future success.
The participants performed their best in each category of the competition, with assessments made by competent judges in their fields. High enthusiasm was seen from the spirit of the participants in displaying their abilities, both in singing, public speaking, storytelling, to pouring creative ideas through poster design and short videos.
With the success of the 11th English Festival 2025, UKM ESC UMPWR hopes that this activity can continue in the coming years and more students will participate. This event is proof that the enthusiasm for learning and competing in English among the younger generation is increasing. (Akb/KP).
