Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - The Student Activity Unit (UKM) of PSM Surya Sagitta managed to get a Silver medal at the Swara Saraswati II Festival national competition held at ISI Yogyakarta Concert Hall on 12 - 16 February 2025. The Swara Saraswati II Festival is a choir, solo vocal and composition/arrangement competition organised by the Vocalista Harmonic Student Voice Guide (PSM). This competition is open and participated by various choir groups from all over the country. Choir, solo vocal and composition/arrangement competitions are organised based on general categories.
With the tagline ‘Lantunkan Irama, Hidupkan Budaya’, the Swara Saraswati II Festival aims to provide space and time for art lovers throughout Indonesia to display or show beautiful creations and works that are full of meaning. As well as a place to preserve national wealth, from human resources and local culture. This competition was attended by UMPWR Surya Sagitta Choir to improve the knowledge, experience, and vocal/musical abilities of Surya Sagitta Choir members at the national standard, and also to establish relationships and form collaborations. This kind of competition is also very much needed to build commitment, enthusiasm, innovation, and organisational values. By participating in national-scale competitions, it is expected to introduce Surya Sagitta Choir and UMPWR in the national arena to build an artistic image and strengthen branding.
At the Swara Saraswati II Festival, UMPWR Surya Sagitta Choir was represented by 18 Surya Sagitta Choir singers plus a collaboration of 14 singers from AVO Aisyiyah University Yogyakarta. Surya Sagitta Choir performed 2 songs namely Ave Verum Corpus by Francis Poulenc and Exsultate Justi by l. Viadana. UMPWR Surya Sagitta Choir won the Silver Medal with 77.73 points. These achievements can be used to improve the non-academic achievements of Surya Sagitta Choir members and the University. (Akb/KP).
