Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - on Saturday, 15 February 2025, the Psychology Student Association (HIMA) held a Psychoeducation Activity at SMP N 2 Mirit Kebumen. This psychoeducation activity was carried out with the aim of providing students with an understanding of psychology and through this activity, it is hoped that students can better understand themselves, increase awareness of mental health, and gain insights that can help them in their daily lives.
This activity was attended by 7th grade students of SMP N 2 Mirit. In this activity, the entire psychoeducation committee acted as speakers, with each class filled by three speakers. This activity covered seven classes, with approximately 33 students in each class.
The psychoeducation activities were held in seven classes, with each class consisting of three organisers who had different roles, namely as openers, presenters, and ice breakers. The activity began with a bonding session to create a comfortable and familiar atmosphere, where each student wrote their name and attached it to their chest. This session was also equipped with small games to make students more excited and enthusiastic in participating in the activities. After a more fluid atmosphere, the activity continued to the speaker session, where the speaker delivered material on emotion regulation with easy-to-understand language and adapted to students' experiences and daily lives. This session aims to help students better understand how to manage their emotions well.
At the end of the activity, an ice-breaking session was conducted to refresh the atmosphere, followed by a case study that encouraged students to apply the material that had been learned in real situations. With an interactive and fun approach, this activity is expected to benefit students in understanding and managing their emotions better. Through this activity, students are expected to better understand the importance of emotion regulation and apply it in their daily lives. Thus, students can develop better emotional skills, so that they can face various challenges more wisely and positively.
One of the teachers at SMP N 2 Mirit said, ‘I feel very happy with this psychoeducation activity at SMP N 2 Mirit. This activity is very useful for students, and I hope it can continue to be held in the following years. We would also like to invite the organisers to give a talk at the Islamic boarding school during Ramadan.’
