Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - The Information Technology Study Programme (PSTI) organised a screening of a short film by Information Technology students entitled ‘Students Don't Tell Stories, Suddenly Work’ for the Digital Literacy Campaign. The activity which was held on Monday, 20 January 2025 was a form of appreciation for student work. This activity is also to develop and support student creativity in the field of multimedia technology.
This Nobar activity is an exhibition of student work which is the output of the Multimedia Technology Course. Lecturer of the course, Murhadi, S.Pd.T., M.Eng in his speech said ‘Nobar is an important part of encouraging students to create good and quality work’.
Nobar short films by students were held at the Kasman Singodimejo Auditorium and watched by Information Technology students and open to the public. The films screened were 18 titles and one of them was the work of foreign students in Information Technology. The short films produced have a big theme about digital literacy and how to use technology wisely.
Students welcomed this film screening activity because it has many benefits for students. According to one Wulan, a first semester student, ‘The process of making this film gives us the opportunity to work and imagine widely. In addition, it provides benefits to increase solidarity and train cooperation and cohesiveness’. Another student who played a role in one of the short films also hoped that this activity could be continued, ‘We hope this nobar activity can be held every year so that it can improve creativity and film quality’.
As another form of appreciation, this nobar activity also provides a champion ranking. First place was won by the team with the title ‘Pinjol Petaka - The Movie (Online Loans)’. 2nd place was won by the team with the title ‘RESET: Humans and Technology [Short Film]’ and 3rd place was won by the student team with the title Jebak di Balik Layar - Judi Online. The assessment is given directly by the audience in the form of direct votes for each film that has been screened.
