University of Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) - held an opening event for Soft Skill 2025 with the theme ‘Design Your Future.’ This event took place on Monday, (20/01/2025). This activity took place at 08.00 WIB, located in the Kasman Singodimejo Auditorium. This activity is a strategic step to equip students with non-academic skills that are relevant in the modern era.
In his opening remarks, Vice Rector III of UMPWR, Dr Budi Setiawan, M.Si. said, ‘Individual success is also influenced by other people besides God's intervention.’ Success is not obtained suddenly, but by doing small things first. Let's make the most of this event to encourage students to improve their soft skills,’ he said.
The chief executive, Dr Eko Harianto, M.S.I., also gave a warm welcome, expressing his hope that this activity would become a momentum for students to recognise and develop their potential. ‘This activity aims to support the development of students' soft skills to be better prepared for the world of work and social life. With the theme ‘Design Your Future’, students are invited to recognise their potential, design their future, and act proactively to achieve it. This activity will be attended by more than 3,676 students from various semesters and takes place in stages with an interactive training approach. The presence of a competent resource person, Danang Giri Sadewa, is expected to provide inspiring insights. The committee chairman also expressed his gratitude to all parties who supported and hoped that this event would run smoothly and be useful for all participants.’ said Dr Eko.
The event presented an inspirational speaker, Danang Giri Sadewa, who is known as a motivator, content creator, and Influencer. In his keynote speech, Danang shared his experiences and strategies in designing the future. ‘A little bit different is better than a little bit better’ means that it is better to create something unique and different than just improving what already exists a little bit, he said. With a dynamic delivery style, the man with more than 1 million followers on TikTok succeeded in motivating participants to take concrete steps towards a brighter future.
This opening activity was attended by 2,500 students, with 900 participants following offline at the Kasman Singodimejo Auditorium and 1,600 other students following online. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the active interaction during the speaker and discussion sessions.
With the implementation of this event, UMPWR continues to demonstrate its commitment to forming excellent graduates, not only in academic aspects, but also in soft skills. Soft Skill 2025 activities are expected to be a catalyst in realising a young generation that is ready to face global challenges.
