Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) Student Activity Unit of Surya Student Information and Counselling Centre (UKM PIK-Ma Surya) held an HIV/AIDS Seminar with the theme ‘Young Generation, Safe Sex, and HIV-Free Future’ on Sunday 8 December 2024 in the Seminar Room of Campus III Sucen. The seminar was attended by administrators, new members of PIK-Ma Surya and delegates from student organisations in UMPWR with a total of 72 participants. The speaker on the occasion was PLKB Purworejo District Asri Hidayati, S.I.Kom and moderated by GenRe Ambassador UMPWR daughter Ailsa Sofia Budiman.
This activity was held as a form of commemorating World HIV/AIDS Day. The speaker provided educational understanding and information about HIV/AIDS, including how it is transmitted, prevention, and its impact, to increase understanding and awareness. Speakers also educated students not to view negatively or discriminate against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), thus creating an inclusive and supportive environment. This kind of seminar is important to create a society that is more concerned, aware, and actively involved in the prevention and management of HIV/AIDS.
Fannies Tauryza as Chairperson of UKM PIK-Ma Surya UMPWR said that participants were happy to be able to actively participate and this kind of seminar is important to create students who are more concerned, aware, and play an active role in the prevention and handling of HIV / AIDS.
Previously, UKM PIK-Ma Surya also held a social action which was held on Sunday, 1 December 2024 at the Purworejo Regency Square. This social action activity is a form of concern for the community to provide HIV / AIDS education. This activity includes sharing snacks that are given motivational writing about HIV / AIDS, so that people are more empathetic towards people with HIV / AIDS. Because people with HIV/AIDS also have the right and deserve a life equal to society in general. This form of social action involves the management and new members of PIK-Ma SURYA. (akbar / KP)
